About this nominations business...

So, at least we're done with that now, the real election campaign can start. You see how I jump with joy? In my head, I mean. Up and down, up and down...
Yeah, I wish. There had been a time, once, when I was all like "Election campaign, election campaign! Some action, Yay!" and couldn't wait for it to begin. But yeah, that was before I actually made money with working in the organization of this whole thing, when I was really only a volunteer and all I did was distributing leaflets or newspapers or stand around in town, trying to get people interested and stuff (oh, and the most fun - and this time I really mean it - where the things where we would get in a car, drive to some event like a concert or something, do a little of the usual leaflet-newspaper-talking thing and then pass the rest of the day with lying around in the sun and doing nothing, calling it "working hard for the political effort" ;)).
Today, it's all about lists and endless phone calls, and endless meetings with people yelling at each other and me having to be super attentive because I'm actually the one who has to transcribe the whole thing (which I just hate... honestly, there are few more things that I hate more than having to log a meeting) and people who don't talk to each other so that things go wrong and... yeah, it used to be more fun when I was a volunteer.
Anyway, at least the nomination conferences are over now. My boss got nominated again, for the same spot on the candidates' list she was on last time (does anyone want me to explain the whole candidates' list thing? Elections in Germany work a lot different than elections in the US, for example) and we'll see how that works. The spot is a risky one, depending on how certain percentages will be and who else wins directly and stuff like that. It's gonna be a tough race, that's for sure. However, I'll be concerned with that from September, at the earliest. And with any luck... I won't be even here anymore in September. Just another reason to get all the application stuff to the local state-run recruiting agency as fast as possible (even though North America seems not like the ideal destination at the moment... *coughs).
