Comment with the name of a female character and I'll tell you why I love her.
Also... anyone want to help me punch Jack Carter of Eureka in the face? Anyone? Come on, you know you want to, after that last ep...

She's also insecure about a "working mum" but she makes a brave decision and she stands by it and I love it that she didn't give up her spot on the team after Torren was born.
I also love her loyalty, both to her people and to her team and that she never makes it easy for herself. She has a very big heart and she's a good teacher because she's both patient and no-nonsense when she has to be.
Teyla rocks! (if she's given the care and attention she deserves... I still resent the SGA writers for seemingly never even making an attempt to give her real character development, not those crude, half-assed tries they gave us instead)

Okay... what's not to love about Sam? I don't care if she's a Mary Sue or not, she rocks!
I think Sam Carter and Sarah MacKenzie (from JAG) were the first female rolemodels from TV I honestly admired and wanted to be like. Sam's a soldier and a scientist and a very good one at that and she never was shy to show how proud she was of that. Sam taught me it's cool when a women is openly proud of what she knows and what she can do and that you don't have to hold back when you just know that you're right. I always wanted to be as fearless and smart as she is and I think she was very important on TV because I harbor the hope that I wasn't the only one she inspired.

She's fierce and spunky and she has a penchant for acting and speaking before thinking and there's a certain irreverent streak in her that makes her so great to write. I also think she knows what she wants and that's something I always admire in people. Did you know that

I love your description of her.
I didn't know about Cadman being in the Legacy series. I was already definitely interested (the books sound fabulous, and several of my favorite characters are going to get story arcs!), but now I can't wait to read them!

Sarah Mackenzie ;)

Okay, like I said, she was one of the first female characters on TV that were role-models for me. She was always straight forward and she was never afraid to tell Harm (or any of the other male characters for that matter) off when she thought he was wrong. She also didn't freeze in awe because of Harm's Mad Lawyer Skillz and was always a match for him (professionally wise, i mean). I loved it that she was both a kick-ass lawyer and a kick-ass soldier and had, despite everything, insecurities and flaws she tried to battle (although sometimes I had a feeling that was overshadowed by Harm's superior Man Pain :P). Sarah MacKenzie got me hooked on the Marines :D

Totally, I mean what with her curse of men who dated her dying, and her alcoholism and her having grown up for years with her Uncle Matt because her parents couldn't raise her...she definitely had demons and flaws.
Its funny though because while I loved Mac, she wasn't my favorite JAG female character. (I give you 2 bazillion useless imaginary points if you can figure out which one was my favorite ;))

Though I also love the one in "Washington Ball" where she ends up coming with someone else and Bud with some...bimbo (because he screwed up and yeah) and yet by the end of the night they end up together?
THAT? is how you do a canon pairing.

Although I'm minutly mollified because Jamie is on another show that I watch Drop Dead Diva as a kick-ass lawyer.

YES! I know everyone loves him (usually, I do, too) but that thing with Tess was not cool :( They really could have written that better.
Jamie is on another show that I watch
She's only in there for two eps, though, right?

Not sure, although it wouldn't surprise me if that was true or she showed up again towards the end of the season.

Parker cracks me up again and again and she intrigues me because I think she's one of the most complicated and complex characters I know (right there with Sophie, BTW). There are so many layers to her personality that she's very unpredictable and I imagine her very hard to write (actually, I tried once or twice already and while it was fun and a real challenge, I always caught myself at being anxious about getting her right). I think they set a great standard with her for a very complicated and sophisticated (as in challenging) type of character.

Dani Reese!

Dani was one of the reasons why I instantly loved Life. She's complicated and messed up and has a lot of demons to fight with but she's still an awesome cop. She's loyal to her partner and she's not afraid to go against orders if she thinks she's doing the right thing. She's got a backbone and she can be so very badass if she needs to. Mh... I want Life back :(
ps
now, I admit, Henry sometimes gets in trouble (witness this week with Grace)...but at least Henry tried fitting into the life he found himself in. (and he fell in love)
Re: ps
Not really. But the way they got rid of Tess... that was awful. I honestly wanted to punch him (and the writers) because all the time it was only about Jack's Man Pain as to how terrible it is that she's back and ooooh, he kissed Allison but damn Tess complicates everything... but two or three eps he didn't have the balls to break it up with Tess... And did we get to see how terrible it must have been for her that the Jack she knew and loved and even wanted to move in with suddenly was distant and behaving like he was hiding something and overall not the man she used to know? No. This desperately needs fix it fic.
I hate it when they do that. At least they're not making the same mistake with Henry and Grace, and so far they haven't messed up Zane/Jo as much as they could have. As for Jack/Jo... I get great friendship vibes there, and I think they're trying to play that angle more now (since they're equals now, not superior and subordinate). So far, I like what they're doing there but I'm still Zane/Jo all the way, sorry ;)
