Yes, I know it's a bit early...
So. Since the last one went a little... suboptimal (let's not talk of the still missing fics), I thought I'd start a little earlier this year. This will remain fixed here until November 30 (or until it's full) and until that you have a chance to post your prompts. This time around, let me say a couple things. Or just one. Anyway. Let's talk about crack. I don't do it. Or I do but I'm really not good at it. And I don't like to write it. Everything else is fair game. Uh. Until I say otherwise, yeah.
Also, to give you some inspiration, have a look at this:
( Holiday Fic Request Meme 2011 )
before you get to this:
Comment with: a day, a fandom (can also be crossover), a character/pairing (can also be my OCs... but do try to take someone else than the farm kids,
mackenziesmomma :P), and a prompt (can be everything from lyrics to pictures) and I will write at least 300 words for you, to be posted on the day you claimed. Any fandom/pairing that I am familiar with is fair game (just look up my interests in my profile and the comms I'm a member of or my Delicious account), but I might ask you to choose another prompt if you leave something I feel uncomfortable writing, or if it is a fandom I haven't been into in a while. You can, of course, request more than one.
(and no, I haven't forgotten the other still open meme prompts, such as this one)

I wanna have the 22nd.
and. uhm. what do you think about a Generation Kill/Atlantis x-over? because Recon Marines on Atlantis would totally be awesome.
no subject
Totally :D But... wouldn't that be kind of RPF? Because, you know, I have issues with that :S However, if I can find a way working around that... mh mh...
Also, your icon! &hearts
no subject
like I recently posted, real!Fick is taller than real!Colbert while Skarsgard is so clearly taller than Sands...no subject
Awww, shucks. I can never resist puppy dog eyes. And yeah, if you think about them as fictionalized persons... or maybe historic persons... mmh... now there's a thought...
no subject
what? there's a thought? share!?
no subject
Oh, just the thought that I can't write RPF but I can probably write fic about historical persons. Yes, I'm twisted, I know. Anyway. Yes. It could work like that. Let's make this a preliminary post. As long as I don't say differently, you're going to get it.
Any additional lines, dialogue snippets etc.?
no subject
no, seriously. as I can't choose, I'll just give you a bunch (or rather a lot) of things/snippets and whatever inspires you, will be the one. :D
- the grooming standard, or: "Devil Dog, why the fuck is your shirt out of your regulation?"
- "You know, it doesn't make you gay if you think Rudy's hot. We all think he's hot."
- espresso makers
- "There's layers of retardation that most people don't even know about."
- "It's lack of pussies that fucks countries up." or, in this case, the Wraith
- "Know what happens when you get out of the Marine Corps? You get your brains back."
- Ray was on the debate team at high school
- Dress Blues with a sword
- "It's destiny, dog - white man's gotta rule the world."
- "Fucking officers will be the death of us yet."
- safety is relative
- "[regarding Ray Person] Need I remind you that he is the best damn RTO in the business? As long as you keep him away from your uglier daughters and your smaller livestock."
- "if we fight the women instead of the men, we'd get our asses kicked."
- "All religious stuff aside, the fact is, people who can't kill will always be subject to those who can."
I'M SORRY. I SAID I CAN'T CHOOSE.
no subject
Okay, uh, I'll come back when I chose one. So... in about six months or so...
no subject
told you so!!! and I left out so many other quotes I find hilarious. (like "Sir, not to get homoerotic about this, but I could kiss you.")
but oh, oh, oh. I just found a quote, that shows GK WANTS a crossover with Atlantis:
"I hope this is good karma. Everything here is ancient Pap....we're in an old, old place..." Rudy is talking about Iraq, but it could also be our favourite city, don't you think?
no subject
&hearts
Marines that know big words! \o/
but it could also be our favourite city, don't you think?
Actually, yes.
Okay, I think I want to do this, RPF or not be damned. Recon Marines in Atlantis FTW! Also, the fact that women are non-existent in that kind of books (logically, granted) is usually a favorite pet peeve of mine... this story would be a good way to remedy it :D (can you say "EOD personal does it with a bang"? ;)).
no subject
I think Brad knows a lot of big words. At least he always know how to properly insult people. Rodney could learn something from him.
Laura could kick asses, because she knows her way around Pegasus. "EOD personal does it with a bang" OMG! She would definitely be in the good graces of most of the boys.
Although, there's something else from the show that came to my mind later: someone made a comment about the AirForce: They shoot Marines. XD And, you know, with Sheppard as CO...
Ah, well. The combination of GK and Atlantis is so funny if you think about it a bit more.
no subject
It still worked. At least here (I know Googlemail for example doesn't display that kind of code, though ;))
Rodney could learn something from him.
Rodney says that's impossible. Ass.
OMG! She would definitely be in the good graces of most of the boys.
That's what I thought. But, oh God, Dusty just remarked that she has unfinished business with Recon. Apparently, before she came to the SGC, they told her off because of the ban on women in combat units... Uh, oh.
the AirForce: They shoot Marines. XD And, you know, with Sheppard as CO...
*blinks Oh God :D
Ah, well. The combination of GK and Atlantis is so funny if you think about it a bit more.
Totally :D Okay, I'm going to write this. Is "cast" okay for characters or do you want specific ones? And honestly, I think I love the "Sir, not to get homoerotic" quote the most :D
no subject
not on my firefox (neither here nor on yahoo)... weird.
Dusty just remarked that she has unfinished business with Recon
I don't think Brad Colbert is impressed.
I love that quote too. Especially, if you think about the quote that started this one. "Sir, the main weapon on your point vehicle is unreliable. Given the prevailing climatic conditions, using this lubricant is like trying to butt-fuck a virgin, under-age, Phuket whore with chalk, when K.Y. is clearly called for, Sir." and Fick goes off to get
K.Y.LSA for Brad and Brad could kiss him.(and people wonder why there's Slash written about those two)Well. I have to live with cast because they're all awesome and I can't decide... again. -.-
no subject
Weird, indeed. What version of Firefox are you using? (Oh, wait, sorry, it's the support agent rearing her ugly head...)
I don't think Brad Colbert is impressed.
He shouldn't have said that...
Well. I have to live with cast because they're all awesome and I can't decide... again. -.-
That's okay, I'll find the right constellation, I'm sure ;)
no subject
He shouldn't have said that...
As if Colbert cares. XD Even 1st Recon's CO called Bravo "cocky motherfuckers"
I'll find the right constellation, I'm sure
I'm assured of this XDDDD but dammit, now I have to wait a whole year for that fic :(
no subject
I'm still using 3.x, both at home and at work. I tried some new version (4? Yeah, I think so) at work and couldn't access my work mail anymore, so I switched back. Then I tried 5.x at home and LJ (and most other stuff) basically stopped working for me because of some issue with drop down menus. And after that I decided to use 3.x until the bitter end.
As if Colbert cares. XD Even 1st Recon's CO called Bravo "cocky motherfuckers"
We are talking about Dusty here :D (the thing is, she's a female NCO (and in my head she's a Marine) and she came from a world of male NCOs trying to bullshit (and who knows what else) her constantly and she is a good shot and basically a hell of a Marine (or she wouldn't have made it into an off-world team) but she wasn't allowed into Recon because of some legal bullshit that's obsolete anyway? That stung, you know... I'd even say she's a little bit bitter about it...)
but dammit, now I have to wait a whole year for that fic :(
Generation Kill has been on my reading list for so long that I'll definitely read it in the first quarter of this year. And who's to say it won't spark some bunny earlier that I feel like writing right fucking now? ;)
no subject
but she wasn't allowed into Recon because of some legal bullshit that's obsolete anyway?
I think this could end in a staring contest between Dusty and Colbert. first they'd argue every little detail about this and then they's just stare at each other.
lol. I think you should watch first. then you have the right visuals (and it's so great, really). and watching it is faster than reading *coughs*
(and do you already have the book? because I could lend it to you, you know. either ebook or real!book)
no subject
Yeah, that's what keeps weirding me out about the Firefox on my dad's PC... No, I really like my 3.x Firefox...
first they'd argue every little detail about this and then they's just stare at each other.
*snorts
"Lieutenant Cadman, what are Sergeant and Mehra and one the new Marines doing in the mess hall?" - "I don't know, sir? What are they doing?" - "They're... uh... staring at each other." - "Oh good. At least they're done with the yelling, then." - "What is going on here?" - "The new Marines are Recon. Dusty has some unfinished business with Recon. Something about ban on women in combat units and not being allowed to even try out for Recon." - "And that's why they're staring at each other now?" - "Exactly, sir." - "Why did I even ask?"
and watching it is faster than reading *coughs*
Not for me. I've been trying to finish my Buffy Complete Series Box for years now, and there's a backlog ranging from Warehouse 13 to Leverage from like, one or two seasons back for each show. But I breezed through One Bullet Away in literally a week (and I read Weiner's Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA in like three weeks, for example). If I'd set out to watching it first, you probably wouldn't get a story for two years...
and do you already have the book?
Not yet. It'll probably find its way from Amazon to my home in the next couple of weeks (probably when I'm out of
drugsbooks to read again which is highly likely to occur before the end of the month). But I very much appreciate your offer ;)no subject
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. oh my. I really can't wait for your muse to strike when you read the book.
(you should still try to watch the show, it's only 7 eps and it's a bit different than the show, i.e. some scenes from the book aren't in there, but some scenes from the show aren't in the book... yes, I obviously can't stop reccing the shit out of this)
as I said. can't wait :D
