gelbes_gilatier: (is that... fanfic?)
Okay, so since I realized that the amount of fics I have in my LJ has increased surprisingly (and not just because of Fanfic100), I decided to do something I've seen in a few other journals: Give you a post where all of them can be found with title (plus link), summary and short additional info such as pairing or content warnings. Also, all of them are posted in correct reading order, not necessarily writing order and I decided to break them up by category, so here we go:

Stargate )

Star Wars )

Battlestar Galactica )

Leverage )

Warehouse 13 )

EUReKA )

The Lord of the Rings )

Firefly )

Harry Potter )

Disney )

Crossover )

PS.: Wholly unrelated to the stories but... if you friend me out of not quite obvious reasons for me (i.e. not being member of one of the communities I'm member of or being a friend of a friend or sharing interests with me), please have the decency to drop me a line why you friended me. Otherwise, I might feel compelled to think you're a bot and I really don't like bots, you know.

Important note regarding my posting policy:

As of now I actually have a new job and because I'm probably even more paranoid than Fox Mulder, I will post more or less all entries regarding personal issues as friendslocked. I might even decide to f-lock the journal in general and only post the fannish entries as public. Anyway, if any of you lurkers would like to read the personal life entries as well, please notify (either here in the comments or via private message) and friend me.

Eurovision Song Contest, same procedure as every year. And... I don't get it. Why Sweden? Why? What was so special or great about that song that it won? I can't even remember the melody or lyrics and only barely the title ("Euphoria"... and I don't really get that, either. There was nothing euphoric about it, that much I remember...). What. I don't even. What?

Iceland, I would have understood. Their song wasn't such a bombshell as last year (I still can't stop listening to that song) but after one or two times of listening to it it had a lot of appeal and was certainly more special than Sweden. Also, it sounded a lot like Runrig. Maybe that helped, too...

Turkey, I would have understood, too and I would have loved that. There was so much joy in that song and you could see that the guy singing it had a lot of fun. It was so great just watching him and listening to him sing that song.

Russia, oh Russia. Your babushki... wouldn't that have been cool? Wouldn't it have been great if six grannies from Russia won the biggest entertainment event worldwide? I mean... that would have been almost greater than Lordy winning in their year. Maybe even greater than Lordy.

Cyprus, hell, even that would have been better than Sweden. I actually recognized that song, unlike the Swedish song. Can anyone of you remember the Swedish melody here? Because, as mentioned above, I can't for the life of me.

Ourselves, of course... even that was better. Actually, Roman Lob gave a hell of a performance and eighth place is to be respected as a very good result. He gave everything and he got rewarded for it and uh... I'd like to thank all countries that awarded him points :D

Anyway, the two countries I would have liked to win didn't even make it to the finals. Either Latvia (their song was the most meta song I ever heard, in a way... I mean, it's a song for the Eurovision Song Contest about a song for the Eurovision Song Contest...) or the Netherlands (because a girl with a guitar and in Native American dressup never sounded so good, and I'm sure the Native American getup had some meaning... oh, well, actually, I know the meaning of it. Huh.), that would have been awesome because both were songs with character and just a little... extra something. Which is why I'll embed both videos under the cut.

Two REALLY good ESC songs )

Halle-fucking-lujah, I finally have something at least resembling a plot for the Big Bang. I know it's going to be mostly Steve, Clint and Natasha and that's going to be very interesting. I'm also pretty sure there are about a million flaws in it and from the looks of it, it's probable going a real big bang fic (at least 25k words again) than a mini bang fic (10k of words).

If it comes to that and I actually manage to finish it on time... would anyone be willing to make some art? I know there are a lot of talented people on my flist and I'd be so happy to have art. Okay, most of all because there will be no official art for the 10k fics and I signed up for one of those. Pretty please? It would be a great incentive for me to actually finish it according to the deadline...

Title: Of Struggling With Shadows in the Dark
Fandom: The Avengers (2012)
Rating: T
Genres: more gen than het but with Clint and Natasha, one never knows...
Summary: It’s been a few days since they blew up half of downtown New York and saved the world. Or maybe Cap and Stark and Banner saved the world and Natasha of course and he was there for the spotting and the shooting, lucky to have been accepted back on the light side of the Force.
A/N: So, uh, apparently, Clint wanted to say his piece, too and then he was being a stubborn bastard. But we managed to work around that and low and behold, there you go. A companion fic or maybe even a remix of Who Knows No Mercy and maybe the prelude to my big bang story. We shall see.

PS: You'll find the translation of the lyrics used as an introduction below the story.

So, huh. I'm still not sure if signing up for [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang with Clint/Natasha was a good idea but I keep having ideas for one-shots so I think it an't have been a completely harebrained idea, no? OK, actually, I'm currently writing a companion piece for Who Knows No Mercy (and Clint is killing me, probably because I am killing him with guilt. It's only fair then, I guess) and there's a vague press coverage bunny for Clint and Natasha that will be all [livejournal.com profile] workerbee73's fault if it ever gets written. Oh, and something about Maria Hill and Nick Fury and the thing with Coulson's Captain America cards because Fury being Fury didn't sit quite right with me (I do realize that he had to do that but I'd just love to write some Maria Hill fic and that seems like a good approach for it).

As for the big bang, I have to be honest. I just know that it's going to be post movie, that I want Steve Rogers to have a part (because something keeps telling me writing Hawkeye and the Widow from his perspective is going to give anything some kind of twist I don't want to miss) and that it's probably going to be mission fic. Other than that... I'm still working on it. It's also a good excuse for watching the movie again, on my own if I have to (I just remembered that I don't mind going to the cinema alone at all when I read [livejournal.com profile] inkvoices's last post so I'll probably just do that). Yes. Good plan.

And maybe all the Avengers stuff will help me to get back into my Stargate writing. Or I'll just try to have a complete rewatch of Stargate Atlantis. Actually, that sounds like a great idea. If I only had time head desks

Oh, right, because apparently, every other big bang sign up gets actually finished by me. After I couldn't get my ass up for [livejournal.com profile] fivetimesbb (I totally lost track of that one... I'm sorry! I also still have it on the backburner. Really.), I obviously couldn't resist the pull of the awesome [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang. Prompt this year is the following:

Fandom: The Avengers (2012)
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff/Clint Barton
Prompt: See my love through loneliness/See my love for sorrow/I've given you my onlyness/Come give me your tomorrow.

Joan Baez seems to sing their relationship as I see it, or at least the chorus feels very much like them and I just had to use it. It was originally destined for a one-shot but I thought I'd give it a shot with a multi-chapter. I err, don't seem to have a definite plot yet but I'm sure as hell going to watch the movie again and buy the DVD as soon as it's out, so I hope for some real inspiration. I also accept suggestions in the comments. Yes.

And now it's back to baking. Hopefully without hurting myself any more than I already did.

ETA: Didn't hurt myself but the cake (lemon tart). Dammit :(

Title: Who Knows No Mercy
Fandom: The Avengers (2012)

Genres: more gen than het but with Clint and Natasha, one never knows...
Summary: "Since the day the world nearly ended, the ship is silent. It has nothing to do with her engines having been temporarily taken out of service for a complete overhaul and everything with so much being so loud in Natasha Romanoff’s head."
A/N: Oh, look, I wrote another one. I, uh, don't know where they're coming from but they're suddenly just there. Anyway. This was... difficult. Natasha was being a little difficult and Clint had his share of it as well. But, as you can see, they didn't keep me from writing it, I hope you enjoy this coda for them.

Which Avenger Are You?
Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff
You are most like Black Widow. You are disciplined and dedicated, and have yet to face a challenge too big for your confidence. Being well rounded and active has helped you on the road to success. But despite your many activities and acquaintances, you are an independent creature, preferring to fly alone. You often push others away and trust only a very select few.

Frighteningly accurate, except for the whole "You are disciplined and dedicated, and have yet to face a challenge too big for your confidence." thing... no really, I feel like a slacker for most of the time :( I guess more of Natasha than "You often push others away and trust only a very select few." would do me some real good...

Or how I got around reading Twilight and was punished for it, after all. Yes, I finally finished Mocking Jay.

Okay, okay, before we go on: this is going to be riddled with spoilers for The Hunger Games and lot of bad language. If you want to stay away from either of them, this is not the post you're looking for *waves you along

A couple rec requests because I got on another scoring run for impossibly small fandoms and/or rare pairings and didn't find enough of either to satisfy me.

#1 Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, William Brandt/Jane Carter. Saw it yesterday, and after I learned to pretend it wasn't Tom Cruise who played Ethan Hunt, I loved it. Also, Jeremy Renner is in it and boy, was I in love with his character the moment he appeared. No really. And then I went looking for fics and I ended up finding like four Brandt/Carter fics. Like, on the whole interwebs. If anyone has fics to rec for me that are neither on ff.net nor on AO3, I'd be very happy.

#2 The Hunger Games, Gale Hawthorne/Johanna Mason. Jesus fucking Christ, I've got issues with that trilogy. Like... massive ones. As massive as the Nut mountain thingy in District 2. I'm nearly finished and I want to throw the book against a wall at every other sentence (I'll explain why after I finish Mockingjay). But, I kind of fell in love with Gale/Johanna after a very short look into fanfiction on HG. I read there were grief and ruins, and you were the miracle. and Feel What It's Like To Be New and they are both awesome and I want more fics like that (which means: no actual appearance of either Katniss or Peeta and most of all no Katniss/Peeta because I just can't abide that pairing). Pretty please?

#3 The Avengers, Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff. I haven't even seen the movie (and probably never will until it's out on DVD because there's not even one cinema that shows it in 2D in the entire fucking city. It's a city of 3.5 million people and God knows how many cinemas and none shows it in anything other than 3D *sobs quietly) but just from reading other people's accounts (most of all [livejournal.com profile] sangate's) I have a feeling it must be awesome. And I just love the idea of two very highly skilled but otherwise ordinary humans on a team of supermen and it just feels as if they'd fit each other very well. I did find a couple of fics but most of them felt OOC even for someone who hasn't seen the movie yet (that sounded pretentious, didn't it?). So does anyone have recs with Hawkeye/Black Widow that don't have them both be OOC? Yes? Anyone? Anyone at all?

At Pottermore, that is. It's all [livejournal.com profile] hanseatic_keks's fault that I signed up and now I want other lemmings those on my flist who are Harry Potter fans to join! Anyone who's on there and here on the flist, add me (RuneMirror3850), please? Yes?

Anyone of you who can find me an affordable nice-looking wearable quality Ravenclaw women's shirt in size M with this crest (the real one, as opposed to the movie one which sucks because seriously, haven't they read the goddamn books?):

Apparently, apartment hunting in Berlin is just as crappy now as it was two years ago. Or even crappier because apartments have become even more expensive. My favorite example from two days back: one room (as in: one room to sleep, live and eat in, but at least a separate kitchen), 38 square meters, 400€ (gross, that is including water and heating). What the hell is wrong with landlords here?

Also, what's so hard about making a couple pictures of the apartment you're offering (good pictures, because, people, you do want to get rid of the apartment and showing it in the worst light isn't helpful with that) and scanning the floor plan to add it to the exposé? How do you think does it make your apartment attractive if I can't see how it looks?

Hopefully, a friend of my father's who works in realty part-time stands by his offer to help me find a new place to live. I honestly could use a little professional help here...

Because I'm a little lemming, I couldn't help click on the link to the Fanfiction Personality Test that [livejournal.com profile] yappichick had in her profile. Here's my result:

The Mindgamer

Everything is possible, nothing is ever really over.

Fanfiction is a creative outlet for you. You don't intentionally write it, it just happens. You find inspiration in several fandoms, but are not obsessed with only one.

You like to explore "what if" situations. What if this character had never made this very choice? What if this event had taken place sooner, never, elsewhere? What if these people had never met?

You are likely to write Alternative Universes, fan seasons or sequels and just follow your (sometimes pretty strange) plot bunnies.

And, just for the fun of it, the rest of the analysis:

You scored 46% on Slasher, higher than 18% of your peers.
You scored 57% on Weirdo, higher than 29% of your peers.
You scored 80% on TrueFan, higher than 87% of your peers.
You scored 84% on Mindgamer, higher than 92% of your peers.
You scored 69% on BarelyFF, higher than 85% of your peers.
You scored 32% on Immature, higher than 16% of your peers.

WTFseriously? Okay... What...ever...
