gelbes_gilatier: (is that... fanfic?)
Okay, so since I realized that the amount of fics I have in my LJ has increased surprisingly (and not just because of Fanfic100), I decided to do something I've seen in a few other journals: Give you a post where all of them can be found with title (plus link), summary and short additional info such as pairing or content warnings. Also, all of them are posted in correct reading order, not necessarily writing order and I decided to break them up by category, so here we go:

Stargate )

Star Wars )

Battlestar Galactica )

Leverage )

Warehouse 13 )

EUReKA )

The Lord of the Rings )

Firefly )

Harry Potter )

Disney )

Crossover )

PS.: Wholly unrelated to the stories but... if you friend me out of not quite obvious reasons for me (i.e. not being member of one of the communities I'm member of or being a friend of a friend or sharing interests with me), please have the decency to drop me a line why you friended me. Otherwise, I might feel compelled to think you're a bot and I really don't like bots, you know.

Important note regarding my posting policy:

As of now I actually have a new job and because I'm probably even more paranoid than Fox Mulder, I will post more or less all entries regarding personal issues as friendslocked. I might even decide to f-lock the journal in general and only post the fannish entries as public. Anyway, if any of you lurkers would like to read the personal life entries as well, please notify (either here in the comments or via private message) and friend me.

Title: Defining Moments: Some Brand New Luck
Fandom: Stargate
Rating: K+
Genres: Drama
Summary: Hopefully last appearance of TLM!Lorne, having been invited to a friends' house and trying not to be too bitter. It has been eight years since Laura died, after all.
A/N: Okay, I promise this is going to be TLM!Lorne's last appearance (he always wears me out... I still cry when hearing Annie Lennox's Into the West, even over three years after writing You And I Will Meet Again), so I made sure it was the story [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah requested (she wanted to see him happy, just for once). It takes place eight years after Laura died and three years after Time Keeps Burning On and we're back with Matthew Kemp and Jenna Kemp neé Wells. Also, I have a feeling I actually need to edit a couple of things in The Faith That Cleans Your Wound after this story...

Also, I decided to finally give Defining Moments its own fic index, which is this post. You can start by clicking on the first link and read it and eventually get "back" to this story (I usually connect all stories in a series so one doesn't need to get back to any indexes) or go directly to the story, if you know the rest. Just thought I'd give you a heads up because it's somewhere inbetween, not at the top or the bottom. Just sayin'. Anyway. On to the index/story now.

Title: Defining Moments: Never Gonna Say Again
Fandom: Stargate
Rating: K+
Genres: Drama
Summary: Again, TLM!Lorne is back, telling us about the moment he realized something fundamental about himself, eight years after his wife's death.
A/N:Gah. If anyone remembers the Defining Moments, you probably also remember that I said All of my Heart would be the last. Obviously, it isn't (this, by the way, isn't the last one, either, just to give you a heads up). Anyway, this takes place a few days before All of my Heart, and [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma said she had to *censored because I'd get disbetaed if I wrote this* at this, so I guess this is not exactly a happy story. Not that this is the fact with any of the Defining Moments, but I thought I'd give you a fair warning.

And as always: Not a native speaker, so please excuse any weird grammatical constructions, run-ons and typos. Feedback will earn you a cookie, flames will roast my marshmellows.

PS.: Wherever did the options for text alignment go???

Never Gonna Say Again )

Today, I had a quite frankly frightening and most of all aggravating conversation with a friend, [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah, about writing and reviews. To get it right from the beginning, it wasn't leah who was aggravating me, it was the fact that apparently, good authors like her get so little appreciation in German fandom that they (or in that case, her) are seriously contemplating to go on hiatus and consider to simply stop publishing and maybe even writing.

This is me and my White Knight complex calling out to you... )

PS: Is it just me or did LJ really change the layout of the WYSIWYG menu? And where were all the extra breaks coming from suddenly? *iz confused
gelbes_gilatier: (things that make me go BOOM)
I have a spare day (yes, in the middle of the week... have to work on Saturday for that... argh) and I'd been posting memes left and right the last few weeks but never a "30 Days..." entry because I usually need to take a little time for that but... yeah, I have time now and I'm going to use it (mwahahahahahaha, be afraid! Be very afraid). So... where were we?

Ah, right.

1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with and why.
2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
3. How do you come up with names, for characters (and for places if you’re writing about fictional places)?

4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!

And here we go:

5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?

Age is not Fate, it's an attitude. )

Title: Defining Moments: Time Keeps Burning On
Fandom: Stargate
Rating: K+
Genres: General (with shippy undertones)
Summary: Another visit to TLM!Lorne... where he finds himself in a position to bestow his wisdom on a young officer in need, five years after leaving Atlantis.
A/N: Okay, so this is really the last Defining Moments piece (I swear, it is!). I... uh... blame it on my author friend [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah and another intense plotting session for her Team Kemp stories, this time a story in the TLM!verse that she's planning (i.e. how things would have turned out for that team in that timeline) and she suggested to tie it to my Defining Moments 'verse... et voila. Anyway, it takes place between All Of My Heart and Like a Song Without a Melody, five years after Laura's death and [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah graciously lent Matthew Kemp to me so I could play around a little with him (that did sound a little wrong now, didn't it?).

Of course, the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma has betaed this. Everything that still doesn't feel right is my fault, and mine alone. Also, she said she would like... no, wait, I decided not to tell you about that one.

Title: Defining Moments: All Of My Heart
Fandom: Stargate
Rating: K+
Genres: Drama
Summary: Surprisingly, TLM!Lorne is back... and he's fed up with his sister trying to make him move on from his late wife, Captain Laura Cadman-Lorne.
A/N: I can't believe he's back. Seriously, after If It Kills Me, I really thought I was done with writing stories from the AU in 'The Last Man' but quite obviously I was mistaken and he just needed some time to come back with a vengeance or something (because, you know, apart from this one there's a second piece waiting to be published...). Anyway, timeline wise, this takes place between The Faith That Cleans Your Wound and Like a Song Without a Melody, eight years after Laura Cadman-Lorne died in Atlantis (BTW, all Defining Moments pieces in correct reading order can be found here).

Of course, the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma has betaed this. Everything that still doesn't feel right is my fault, and mine alone. So of course she's the one to get dibs on making him all better, girls.

After I posted that the results of the Isis Awards are there a while ago, I can now say that the Banners for everyone who scored are there (or at least a few of them). Here are the first four:

"Out of Reach" on ff.net

"Defining Moments: You and I will meet again" on LJ

"Protect and Survive V: Draw Blood Tonight" on ff.net

"Protect and Survive IV: Wouldn't hurt to tell the truth" on ff.net

So called fanmixes. Went on a little CD cover spree yesterday and made my first one (with the help of[livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma and her super picture finder skills). Title comes from my "Protect and Survive" series on ff.net (I promise, one day you'll find it all here as well). On it are all the songs of the stories yet published plus the songs for the four "Defining Moments" stories (since it's kinda like the TLM version of the PAS verse) and two bonus tracks (since they reminded mac and myself so much of Laura and Evan, respectively). If someone wants me to also add links to the respective lyrics, feel free to ask. Anyway, here you go:

Title: Same old song
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters: Cadman/Lorne
Prompt: 035 Sixth Sense
Word Count: 1.680
Rating: K+
Summary: Colonel Sheppard feels the aftereffects of what he experienced in "The Last Man".
Author's Notes: I guess some of the readers here are familiar with my Protect and Survive series (which can be found over on ff.net) and my Defining Moment one-shots. This one takes place between Protect and Survive: Might Just Save Your Life and Protect and Survive II: Raising the Stakes and is also a kind of bridge between the two universes. I'd really wanted to write it, but it didn't really fit in the pieces already published, so I decided to make it a Fanfic100-piece. Hope that's okay with you. And of course it's betaed by [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma who is a real role model, because she still manages to correct my stuff although she already seems to have an insane workload ;) And here's the LDT.

Title: "Defining Moments: If it kills me"
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis
Warnings: since it's part of the timeline featured in "The Last Man", there's character death
Pairings: mainly Lorne/Cadman
Spoilers: mostly "The Last Man", but just to be sure, all Seasons up to Season Four
Summary: Revisting TLM-Timeline!Lorne from "The faith that cleans your wound", "Like a song without a melody" and "You and I will meet again" (which, by the way, are best read in exactly that order)... back when Laura Cadman was still very much alive. What's going through your head when you're about to tie the knot amidst war and destruction?
A/N: He promised me this is the last time he bugged me into writing a part of his story. In a sense... with this I'm coming full circle with this series, so I guess this is really going to be the last part of my TLM-stories. It's been lurking around my head for quite a while now, and since the best thing you can do against writer's block is said to be writing, I tried my hand at it. Let's see how that worked out. Title: "Defining Moments: You and I will meet again"

Pairings: mainly Lorne/Cadman
Spoilers: mostly "The Last Man", but just to be sure, all Seasons up to Season Four
Summary: Revisting TLM-Timeline!Lorne from "The faith that cleans your wound" and "Like a song without a melody", and back at Arlington National Cemetery, at the funeral of his wife, Captain Laura Cadman-Lorne.
A/N: He just won't leave me alone... for some reason, he obviously wants me to tell his story in reverse (and make me sad in the process :P). So now that we already know what made him let Rodney through the 'Gate and how he felt only two years after her funeral, we get the actual funeral. Warnings: since it's part of the timeline part of "The Last Man", there's character death
Pairings: mainly Lorne/Cadman
Spoilers: mostly "The Last Man", but just to be sure, all Seasons up to Season Four
Summary: Revisting TLM-Timeline!Lorne from "The faith that cleans your wound", this time two years after returning to the Milky Way and burying his wife, a certain Captain Laura Cadman.
A/N: Seems like the Evan Lorne that became a General in "The Last Man" just won't leave me alone. And after I told you about his part in letting Rodney through the 'Gate, he obviously wanted me to tell you how things were when certain wounds were still not healed. So... there you go.

BTW, the translation for the lyrics used this time (because they are in German) is at the bottom of the story, behind the cut, for everyone who's interested in it.

Warnings: episode tag for "The Last Man" = character death
Pairings: mostly Lorne/Cadman, with hints of McKay/Keller

Summary: Well... what did compell General Evan Lorne into letting Dr. Rodney McKay through the 'Gate in "The Last Man"?
