#1 The most important thing about Lorne is: he may be short... but he can still kick your (and everyone else's) ass if he has to. However, he also prefers not to (physically) kick anyone's ass if he doesn't have to.
#2 Sheppard would be dead without him. Or at least buried under tons of paper work (it's astonishing how much paper work a city like Atlantis can still produce...). But Sheppard (and for that matter everyone else) knows better than to call him "file rat". Well, to his face, anyway.
#3 He'd like to have his own command one day but right now he's comfortable with being Sheppard's file rat XO. It could change the next time Sheppard makes him clean up another Marine mess, though.
#4 Family is very important to him and so is privacy. That's why Teyla (and well, in the Protect and Survive 'verse also Laura) is the only canon character who knows that he actually has family.
#5 He's a closet speed freak. No, seriously. I think he was trained on fighters and he loved it. He regrets not being able to fly fast planes on a regular basis anymore so every time he gets an opportunity to get into one of the F-302s, he takes it... and takes great care to make it look like a mandatory training exercise.
Laura:
#1 She tries to cut Rodney some slack, she really does... but you're right, she'll never forgive him for seriously suspecting that she was the one to plant the bomb. And what's probably even worse is that he can't keep from doubting her scientific abilities.
#2 She's a scientist, even though people usually only see the soldier in her. She loves being a soldier but being a scientist is also a part of her and she wishes it would be appreciated more.
#3 She never actually plans for her temper to show but she gave up trying to be something she is not (namely, docile and demure). Not agitating a superior and behaving within the limits of the UCMJ is one thing but taking shit from anyone quite another. And Laura does not take shit from anyone.
#4 She really tried to make this thing with Carson work. It was great at the beginning but he was just so nice and it made her take jabs at him and provoke him in an ever increasing frequence, just to make him be not nice and have him make a stand against her but it just never worked.
#5 Being a Marine is an inherent part of her personality and she can't not be a Marine. However, she doesn't like being reduced to just that part of her personality... and she's glad that she found quite a lot of female friends on Atlantis who aren't Marines because there's something relaxing and refreshing about all-female company that you need very much when your entire day is spent with male soldiers.
