Yep, it's a collection of daily meaningless rambling...

Nope. Dude, I wish. You must apply for membership to the state bar association of every state you want to practice in and for entry to every federal court. So one of the requirements for membership is a law degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school (in addition to a bachelors degree). You also must have a high enough score on the MultiState Professional Responsibility Exam, pass that state's bar exam, apply to and be approved by the state bar's Morals, Character and Fitness Committee. It's a long arduous process. I had to reserve my spot to take the California bar three years ago before I even started law school.

For California, I've done everything but pass the bar. I'm in bar prep class 12 hours a day 6 days a week starting next week until the bar exam, which will be for 12 hours a day, July 27, 28, 29. Results will be announced end of November (but just whether you passed, not your actual score). Then you still have to be sworn in by the state supreme court before you're actually a lawyer.

I'm currently doing the whole process also for Maine for the February 2011 bar exam date too.

Oh Jeez, that sounds... awfully exhausting and complicated. So the days I have to cross my fingers for you are July 27, 28 and 29 and then again next February?

It is awful and yes, please, thank you! Still, graduation means one more required item can be checked off the list.

So what'd you do for your birthday?

Mh, not much (I stopped celebrating my birthday with a party 7 or 8 years ago...). My sister invited a friend of hers (that I also know and like) over and cooked dinner (Indian, because I asked her to ;)) and we watched some movies until my parents came back from celebrating the birthday of my other sister's boyfriend's mother (who was born on the same day in the same year as my mom...). So, very quiet but I like quiet. Maybe I'll throw a party at my 30th birthday, though...

Sounds nice. I stopped celebrating my birthday after 25. Not much to celebrate after that.
