this is a kind of (belated) Christmas present for me:

“3) If the SGA movie is a go, would you still be involved as the writer and/or producer?”
Answer: I’m sorry to say but the cancellation puts the brakes on whatever progress the SGA movie had made in the past month, shelving it indefinitely.
Mike McGinnis writes: “Is there any chance of the SGA movie anymore if you guys can’t save SGU?”
Answer: See above.  Contrary to what some may think, the cancellation of SGU is very bad news for those looking forward to an Atlantis movie.

I know that a lot of people on my flist were really looking forward to a Stargate Atlantis movie (and I do feel sorry for you because I know how it is to really, really want something and not get it) but damn, I wasn't. Especially after what Mallozzi said about how Atlantis fared since EATG (in his head, anyway... and only in his head, thank God), I just really, really, really hope that this will finally mean that they will let the franchise rest in peace and give it to the fans. Because, let's face it, we're the ones who actually know what to do with it and how to write it. This is hopefully it for the SGA movie.

Really, Malozzi did say something? I can't remember. It's not that I am sad about this, I had been more excited about a possible third SG1 movie than anything new from SGA.

Yeah, wish I couldn't remember it either. In that regard, partial amnesia doesn't sound so bad all of a sudden... I'm excited neither about a possible SGA movie nor about a possible SG1 movie but I'd be very excited if they'd just leave the fucking franchise fucking alone.

Maybe it's best that you don't remember. :) I only hope that when they leave the franchise alone, no one has the incredibly stupid idea to reboot it...

It really sucks , I don't really know what to say to this. At least it's clear and we wont have to assist the battle of the optimists and the "not gonna happen" anymore. Still I'm really sad I was looking forward to how they where going to go after Enemy at the Gate. Hopefully they'll release their preliminary script to make me happier. :)
And as an eternal optimist let's hope the SG-1 movie at least wont get the same fate. That and they really better get Vala back in it.

Oh God, let's all pray that they don't. Mallozzi's head canon for what happened after EATG sucks, and big time at that. It's downright... no, I don't have words for how much it sucks.

That and they really better get Vala back in it.

I don't have much faith but I do keep up a tiny sliver of hope. Because, seriously, how can you not have Vala in an SG1 movie???

- Mallozzi's head canon for what happened after EATG sucks

Really ? I didn't know I never made any research on the film atually , I was more for the SG-1 film anyway , but seriously what was his head canon ?

-Because, seriously, how can you not have Vala in an SG1 movie?

10000000% with you there. During the last seasons and the movies , Vala grew to be one of my favorite characters. And even if they don't give her a big role in the third movie I'll survive , I'm just really scared as to how they will excuse her absence. Knowing them they'll kill her off . I think there going to say something like she stayed with the Tok'ra after Continuum . Oh well , I still wonder what the hell make them take the decision of no Vala >.>

I can't say I'm particularly surprised or displeased. But I am excited for the Fandemonium book series. :)

I'm really not surprised; I didn't expect the movie to ever be made, so. *shrugs*

Not surprised, either but I do have the weird feeling that they've known this for longer than they knew about the cancellation. It's just a convinient moment to announce it and that's all kinds of bad style.

I am neither surprised nor displeased, because after season 5 I had the feeling, a movie would destry the Atlantis myth for me more and more. The way the producers and writers took had been terrible and would be bad in the film too.

So it is better, that they put their ideas to the grave and let the fate of Atlantis and its crew open as can be. It would be far, far better for us.

I have seen, that taking up the ends of a very good series would only result in a catastrophy. I still love "Babylon 5", but the following films became badder and badder and "Crusade" was really boring.

So I really love the fact, that there will be no "Atlantis Film" as you.

I absolutely agree. Season Five was by far the worst, even if people try to play it down. It just seemed like they'd lost all interest in Atlantis, way before the cancellation was announced and yes, I do feel bitter about the way it was handled.

OMG! Isn't that exactly what you predicted them to say? o.o *lol*

I just hope that means there won't be a third SG-1 movie either. *is such an unfaithful fan* *sigh*

Honestly, I couldn't care less. It's not that I'm not curious about how the whole Atlantis thing could develop, it's just that I don't think that Mallozzi and Wright would be the right people to actually do the movie. I really hope they'll find something very different to focus on so I'll never have to hear from them again.

I absolutely agree. Why the hell do they keep on ruining it if they don't even have a real interest in it anymore? Mallozzi said as much when he said something in the direction of "it was good while it lasted but now it got blasted" or something (not in that wording, but you get my meaning, right?) and I wish they'd just move on.

Dude, I don't want SGA movie either. I'm not very keen on those books being released right now, knowing few things about the entire project - you don't claim you own the canon and change it upside down just to suit your shipping agenda and expect all fans to accept it.

One answer to all of that - SGA Rising. *grins*

Rest in peace, Stargate. The agony has lasted long enough.

While I do like what I read of Jo Graham so far, I like the fact that it's not canon canon and everyone can see fit to it if they want to keep to it or go a different way. It's just one way of many of seeing Stargate, not the way (like a movie would be). So yeah... just another reason to be glad about it.

I reaaaallllyyyy don't like her shipping agenda - but considering my foul mood right now, I should probably refrain from further commenting.

Polyamorous nomads, or whatever the phrase is, for crying out loud. That's just idiotic.
