The thing that happened was this: I was being my usual
Because, you know, it states in the rules that everyone has to play nice, you know, and I was a very, very naughty girl and apparently, some mods would rather be censors than have the guts to have at least one person in that forum who places sound arguments and a no-nonsense way of stating her opinions over making nice and passive-aggressive *g* and :) and ;) and :D and :P behind every other sentence in a rather ridiculous attempt to appear oh so nice. You know what, girls? Stick your making nice and your stupid overuse of emoticons where the sun never shines.
I'd rather be honest than do your sanctimonious act of simply being concerned about everyone's welfare and wanting to pretend that oh, if we just tell each other how nice and great we are, life will be so much better
But then again, not a lot of people like to be told that what they just said or wrote is basically a pile of bantha poodoo and yes, I'm aware of that, don't worry. I just don't believe in letting people live in their little world of stupid. It may seem very cozy to you, this world where you're always right and everyone who doesn't share your opinion and your way to see the world is wrong but hey, newsflash: life's not like that. Life is that ugly place where other people might have the better argument (don't worry, I've been there often enough... and while you might not believe me: if you can actually show me with sensible and logical arguments that you're right and I'm wrong... hey, I'm all for it... and if you Godly Mods and all those other whiny wussies would have actually read my postings, you'd have seen that) and where someone might choose to be honest instead of using *g* and ;) to pseudo-soften a bitch-slapping.
And I refuse to be part of your little soft and cloudy cotton candy sweet world of make believe. I'm telling you like it is and if I think your story or your post sucks, I'm saying so. I also tell you if you suck but that's rather rarely because I'm actually able to separate a story or a post from the author. If you can't or don't want to do that, that's fine but don't expect me to do the same. And don't expect me to sugercoat something that shouldn't be sugarcoated.
Rather... be happy I actually took the time to give you a review or answer to your post. I don't review stories or answer to posts that I think are so completely ass backwards horrible that they don't deserve my time (yes, I reserve the right to deem stuff unworthy of my attention and if you're telling me you're finding that arrogant and would never do it, you're lying) and I don't give authors feedback whom I think are devoid of any form of writing talent whatsoever. If I single out your story and tell you why it sucks, I'm not criticising you. I'm criticising your story and I'm telling you how to improve your writing. If you think you don't need improvement... you should stop writing or at least publishing because writing is a process of learning, every damn day of your damn life as a writer.
Also, if I give you a review that's appreciative... it's worth at least ten generic "ZOMG, that's like, so grEat, liek CaN you pls ConTInue?" one sentence reviews because when I write a review, I actually take some time to do it. It might not be very long but you will always find honest and real regard for your story and you will see that I actually read the story. I might not like you personally or your political views or agree with your head canon or even interpret characters differently than you... but if you still manage to write a good story and captivate me with it, I will leave you a review that says exactly that, regardless of what else has conspired between us (which reminds me... I should just get my ass up and leave

So yeah, that's what sets me apart from all you sanctimonious, double-faced control freak bitches with a God complex from over there. And of course I'm totally willing to say that over there as well, in case you've been gearing up to make me look like I lack the guts to stand up for what I believe in... but ironically you wouldn't even allow me to, so don't even get started with it here. Please also don't taunt me because you don't know what you'd be getting yourself into. Just trust me when I tell you that you'd lose that fight. I've got the harder head and I've got more practice in standing up for my own, without an army of cuddly-wuddly wussies behind me. However... if you do decide to try your hand at it... we're sure gonna have some fun. Or at least I will.

When I see you again to chat ;) (too much for a comment conversation...)

Date: 2011-04-05 01:27 pm (UTC)Admins do have Hausrecht (no idea what that's in English... domestic authority?), though. They have, as far as I know, every right to delete every post or user that breaks their rules. (And it's a good thing they have... not in this case, though, where I just think that their actions don't make sense and are morally questionable, but generally speaking)
Still, was all of this because of the Google comment? Because... wow! Way to go there. Even I would have probably posted something like that...
Have they ever asked you to either
a) explain a word you wrote and they didn't understand
or
b) "dumb you comments down"?
Because all that I remember was them moaning (in an already pissy tone) that you use unusual words they don't understand. And that you would do that only to make them look like fools. (I can, however, be mixing things up here... ;))
Seems like a lame excuse to delete your posts...

Date: 2011-04-05 03:01 pm (UTC)Actually, it's more complex than that. Art. 5 Abs. 1 GG is there to protect citizens from the state in the first place but can also be used against third persons, if they for example have a civil court banning a book.
In this case, it's probably a case of something being legal vs. something being right. Maybe it's legal what they did but it's certainly very much against the spirit embodied in Art. 5 Abs. 1 GG, IMHO one of the most important articles of our constitution (and BTW quite comprehensive...) seeing as free speech is probably the first and foremost sign of a democracy. People deleting posts where I simply state that someone was wrong... that's not democratic thinking. And I think that's what's pissing me off.

Date: 2011-04-05 05:20 pm (UTC)And you have every right to be. I didn't mean to say anything else. As you said: What they did is not right.
And I'm not "just" talking about the censorship. I was an Admin for aaaaaages and there are plenty of ways to "deal" with users who might not be "in tune" with the rest (which, BTW, doesn't have to be a bad thing). None of which involve b*tching around. I would even go so far as to say that deleting a post is the very last thing to do because - most of the time - it's the wrong decision and while it may make things easier for the moment, the trouble usually comes back sooner than you think. With a vengeance. As you are about to prove, I think. ;)
