Fandom: Stargate
Rating: T
Genres: action/adventure, drama
Summary: Laura Cadman is caught between a rock and a hard place. Or maybe rather between her heart and her head? Anyway, it's never easy when a certain Doctor and Major are involved.
A/N: Right. Err. There was something I should have remembered. Yes. Which means, no, I still haven't given up on trying to get all the PAS stories over to LJ as well. *sighs Also still promoting my Holiday Fic Request meme! A/N: So, since I promised there'd be more story posting here than just Not in Kansas Anymore, I figured I should actually follow through with that. Also still promoting my Holiday Fic Request meme!

Genres: crossover, romance
Summary: When Laura Cadman and Evan Lorne woke up in a storage room, they never thought it would be in a galaxy far, far away. And now they need to find a way back home, past Special Operations agents and stormtroopers, between the fronts in a war they thought they knew (from television, mind you). But no one ever said it would be easy.
A/N: So, weekend's over and I decided I really want to get this story posted completely as soon as I can. Which is why you get yet another chapter today. Also, am still promoting [livejournal.com profile] yappichick's fanart! And please don't forget to claim a day in my Holiday Fic Request meme!

HOLIDAY FIC REQUESTS

Comment with: a day, a fandom (can also be crossover), a character/pairing (can also be my OCs... but do try to take someone else than the farm kids, [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma :P), and a prompt (can be everything from lyrics to pictures) and I will write at least 300 words for you, to be posted on the day you claimed. Any fandom/pairing that I am familiar with is fair game (just look up my interests in my profile and the comms I'm a member of), but I might ask you to choose another prompt if you leave something I feel uncomfortable writing, or if it is a fandom I haven't been into in a while. Remember that sore throat I mentioned when I said I'm back in Germany? It turned out to be tonsilitis. One that sent me to the ER on Sunday (I was a walk in, don't worry) and got me some pretty heavy antibiotics that apparently weren't only heavy on the tonsilitis but also on me (I never reacted to antibiotics like this before, I swear), made me sleep the entire Monday (mostly because the antibiotics and the jetlag wouldn't just let me sleep at night and gave me one of the worst nights ever), made me nearly faint in the bathroom on Tuesday (which was one of the creepiest things ever because I don't do fainting. Except when having someone drawing blood and even there it only happened once because I was stupid enough to look so no, still don't do random fainting) which probably was because I was still dehydrated and had low blood sugar from Monday and then ended me with new antibiotics on Tuesday from my regular ENT doc.

In the end, I also slept almost the entire Tuesday but at least I kind of could eat something in the evening and almost slep through the night so that's probably a plus. Throat's still sore but it's waning. And at least I don't have to sleep the entire day anymore. That said, expect story postings again. I'm hoping to do them in the next couple of days. And if you find any good Leslie Knope/Ben Wyatt stories, don't be afraid to tell me. Ever since that one ep of Parks & Recreation on the plane, I've been kind of binging on fics about them (when I wasn't sleeping, that is).

A/N: Ohmigod Big Bang fic! Inbetween at least two computers dying on me, work, a trip to San Francisco and about a million other times I got this fic for [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang finished! Writing a blog entry for today, that is.

It was [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma's and my second day at the Rosewood and it was spa time today. We both got a full hour massage and man, was that good. Seriously, that was awesome and I kind of want to have another one already, you know? We then took the car back to San Francisco and wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge but it seems it's avoiding mac (I know it's not avoiding me because I actually got to see it on Tuesday and a bit of it on Wednesday, too) since it's the third time it was hiding from her in the fog (yes, fog, not mist, dear).

So instead we took the scenic road back to SF (the one from Take You Higher, just without the cops, you know) and returned the car to Hertz. We also got back into SF for lunch (which was kind of dinner, actually) and wanted to take the F Line to Fisherman's Wharf but there's this slight unfortunate detail that my hostel's neighborhood is... erm... interesting and I kind of didn't want to have to walk to it after dark so I bid mac goodbye at the BART station (yes, the Bay Area Rapid Transportion is abbreviated with BART) and then... well... headed off to Walgreens to get something against the sore throat I seem to have developed (probably a side effect of the A/C at the hotel and in the car... A/C and I apparently do not get along and I kind of forgot about that so it's not your fault, mac, just so you know). Let's hope it goes away in the next couple of days...

Anyway. Bunnies. Lots of goddamn bunnies. Most of all the aforementioned shower smut bunny and champagn bottle bunny and there's also a hot tub bunny (Tom and Maureen insist on it, I'm afraid) and a spa bunny and yeah, you get what this is about, right? Ngh.

My own story, the Jenna's War series. It would be gritty and dramatic and it would be without Jedis. But it would be awesome. (what do you mean... hubris?)

Oh, wait, I was supposed to describe it in 300 words or less... oh hey, that is less than 300 words. If you want to know what's it about, just go read it (so far, there's one posted completely which is Screw Up and one I really need to continue posting which is Big Girl). That is all.

A/N: This is a spontaneous Five Things fic that came to me earlier today. I'd like to include trigger warning for this, both for past real world events and for current real world events (that is, stuff that happened this year). 25k!

I just broke 25k on the big bang story!

\o/

I also now know that I'll need five to six (or maybe seven, depending on how the chapter after the current one will work) eight more chapters to finish it which while it's certainly tough actually not impossible to do within the deadline of September 25th. I just hope I won't break down on the home stretch as I'm usually wont to do (not breaking down but nearly breaking down and saying "Ah, just fuck it all, I'm gonna quit." I never did it before and I don't intend to now but the home stretch really is the hardest part in any thing I do for me) and oh God, the beating. And the formatting. And oh God, I think I'll just go back to finishing my chapter and try to get this story done. Eeeek!

Today, I had a quite frankly frightening and most of all aggravating conversation with a friend, [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah, about writing and reviews. To get it right from the beginning, it wasn't leah who was aggravating me, it was the fact that apparently, good authors like her get so little appreciation in German fandom that they (or in that case, her) are seriously contemplating to go on hiatus and consider to simply stop publishing and maybe even writing.

This is me and my White Knight complex calling out to you... )

PS: Is it just me or did LJ really change the layout of the WYSIWYG menu? And where were all the extra breaks coming from suddenly? *iz confused
gelbes_gilatier: (Genius!)
I really tried to talk myself out of this one because of the topic of the question but [livejournal.com profile] mackenziesmomma wouldn't let me chicken out so I figured I should just get it over with write it and be done with it. Also, until now I tried to find a fitting song for the aformentioned story tag for [livejournal.com profile] ancient_leah but I feel so alone without my laptop and my music and most of all my playlists (oh God, the playlists! They were so many I actually had to scroll, even in half screen size oh God) and last.fm isn't really helpful, either so I can just as well write another "30 Days" entry until I get a new laptop (hopefully in the next two weeks because seriously, I don't think I can make the big bang otherwise). So here we go.

First eleven under cut because the list of answered questions threatens to become longer than the actual answer... )

And the newest one:

12. In what story did you feel you did the best job of worldbuilding? Any side-notes on it you’d like to share?

Brave new worlds... )

Anyway... any of my verses you'd like to have included this? Any verses you didn't like, regarding world building? Give it all to me!

Give me a pairing and I will tell you:

1. What they most commonly do during sex
2. Who has prettier hair
3. What they argue about most often
4. Who'd cope best if the other one died
5. The happiest plausible happily-ever-after I can think of for them.

Also, remember to look up my fandoms in the interests if you aren't sure what you can request.

Also, of course all my OC pairings (and non-pairings) and pairings I don't actively ship but you'd still like to hear about are fair game (except slash, but you might try femslash).
gelbes_gilatier: (ravenclaw!)
First of all: OMG LIVEJOURNAL YOU'RE BACK OMG I MISSED YOU SO MUCH! Let's hope you're working again on all computers I use.

Second: following a couple discussions I had on the actual definition of fanfiction in regard to what to write I think I need another meta post. The thing that started the discussion was my review on a drabble that had a totally OOC Sam Carter (without it having been declared as AU, that is) and the comment another reviewer made, saying that he thought that "fanfiction means you can write whatever you want". I told him that no, this is called original fiction and went on to explain that fanfiction actually means adhering to a specific set up rules, defined by the 'verse you're writing in.

Color me cofused. )

PS.: Because I never said it before and because I vowed to do it as soon as LJ is back up running again; thank you, English speaking fandom, for being what you are. Thank you for being big enough that everyone can find their niche and thank you for holding canon in such a high esteem that even in AUs, "they're so in character!" is still the biggest praise you can get. Thank you for making "Do your goddamn research!" a valid point in criticism and thank you for shaking your head about people who don't do their research because they're too goddamn lazy because you can't imagine research not being an actual part of the writing process and fun. Thank you for being you.

PPS: And what the hell is going on with [livejournal.com profile] fandomnews? Is it ever coming back? Because I'd love to post this there...
gelbes_gilatier: (eureka)
I just might have found the OC to save my [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang story. Can't say much about him but OMG how I love him for maybe, actually, probably saving my story with helping me connect the two strands I had no idea how to get back together and maybe even providing the non-Lorne/Cadman romance I wanted so badly and I will be eternally grateful to him. Yes, it's absolutely normal to be grateful to a fictional character that exists only in my imagination, why do you ask?

(and yes, I might keep getting on your nerves with freaking out over the big bang but it's my first, so please bear with me? Yes? Pwetty pwease?)

Also, would thinking about organising a big bang at [livejournal.com profile] major_explosion or, even better, [livejournal.com profile] stargate_ocs be a very bad idea right now?

EEEEEEEEK!

gelbes_gilatier: (twenty pounds of crazy)
Okay, so I just hacked another couple of words into the keyboard and am now at a little over 10k words for my [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang story. I still have until mid-September to finish the story, with at least 25k of words (because I'll be in California for most of the second September half). I'm quite confident that the story is big enough to make it actually past the 25k but quite honestly, even though I'm at 10k now, I still don't know if the story works like it's supposed to be and if it's really as good as I want it to be. It's Stargate/Star Wars with Lorne/Cadman (what, did anyone really expect something different?) and OMG I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL EVER FINISH IT AND IF ANYTHING ACTUALLY MAKES ANY SENSE OMG!

Because, see, Laura and Evan are actually the only Stargate characters in we get to see in the story (or at least will get to see for a very long time) and they aren't even together for the biggest part of the story (or at least for the biggest part of the story that has been written yet) and there are Star Wars OCs popping up in every corner and I'm afraid they'll be just cardboard cutouts and I think I want more romance in there than just Evan and Laura and I don't feel any real connection to my OCs yet and I think I'm going to sit in a corner, take a couple of deep breaths and then just plow on writing that story. Even though I'm mortally afraid just going on is the biggest mistake I could make. EEEEEK!

[/rant over]
gelbes_gilatier: (it's like this...)
Eh. Well. Um. It's a second "30 Days" post in a week. But to be honest, I feel like I have a lot more to say about the next question than I had about the last. While that was more of a blah post, this one could become a veritable rant, seeing as I have to say a lot about the character I like to write least... but let's start at the beginning (also, tons of spoilers, mostly for Minor Characters, so if you want to read that series in the correct order and unspoilered... better skip this one).

That is, the first ten questions:

1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you’ve worked with and why.
2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?
3. How do you come up with names, for characters (and for places if you’re writing about fictional places)?

4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!

5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?

6. Where are you most comfortable writing? At what time of day? Computer or good ol’ pen and paper?

7. Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? Are there any songs you like to relate/apply to your characters?

8. What’s your favorite genre to write? To read?

9. How do you get ideas for your characters? Describe the process of creating them.

10. What are some really weird situations your characters have been in? Everything from serious canon scenes to meme questions counts!

And the newest one:

11. Who is your favorite character to write? Least favorite?

People are people... )

BTW... who's your favorite character to read, Stargate or non-Stargate? Of mine, that is. Tell me?
