I'm stealing another meme from [livejournal.com profile] bluflamingo *sighs

But, okay, here it goes:

a. Give me a pairing(/threesome/moresome) and I'll tell you my favorite get-together plot

b. Pick a character and I will give and explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them

c. Tell me a pairing, and I will tell you:

1. When or if I started shipping them:
2. What I think their challenge is:
3. What makes me happy about them:
4. What makes me sad about them:
5. What moment I wish had never happened:
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
7. My happily ever after for them:

Because you know you love me (and/or hate me. Depending on how ebil I'm being) I'm going to do all three :P (AND! I'm going to hit 3 fandoms!)

A} Eliot/Parker

B} Lt McSmartypants (Aka Lt Simmons)

C} Harm/Mac (I *know* we've discussed it but I CANNOT remember any of it at the moment. yes you may beat me with the beta noodle of doom now.)

Righty...oh...

A} Eliot/Parker

Whatever it would be, it sure as hell would be... interesting. Parker definitely would startle Eliot and Eliot would definitely growl at Parker but what's more important is that they would both have to get past each others' defenses. It would challenge them - not necessarily in a conventional challenging way but more of an emotional challenge - and push them and make them challenge and push each other. But yeah... most of all it would be interesting :D

B} Lt McSmartypants (Aka Lt Simmons)

#1 He's... smart. One really never should forget that despite everything, he actually is smart. Really. He is. I swear.

#2 He's loyal. It's hard to win his trust but when he finally decides that he can trust you, he will follow you to hell and back. Fortunately, he decided to trust Laura and Evan. Otherwise, they would have been in for an... interesting ride.

#3 He's a farm boy. Like, a real one. But he never wanted to be one. He does have a burning ambition (so it's not that far-fetched to perceive him as overzealous and career minded) and the wish to fucking prove that he can, whatever it is. However... a few weeks after he came to Atlantis... he finds himself missing the farm and it's kind of embarrassing for him, so he never tells anyone. Not even Miss Wilson.

#4 At first, the Sergeants scared him. Then they annoyed him. Then he realized he'd be an idiot to ignore them. So he started to howl with the wolves and now Evan isn't quite sure if he should be afraid of his team or just ignore whatever truce Simmons and the Sergeants made.

#5 Laura still scares him, Evan inspires awe, Tom is an evil bastard, Maureen either deluded or a very, very brave woman (or maybe both), Sheppard is someone he'd rather not come across all too often and Miss Wilson is... well, Miss Wilson.

C} Harm/Mac

1. When or if I started shipping them: when they met in the rose garden *hearts in my eyes
2. What I think their challenge is: themselves. Seriously, I think the UCMJ was a lesser obstacle than themselves.
3. What makes me happy about them: they might be their biggest obstacle but they never really stopped trying to overcome even that one.
4. What makes me sad about them: that it TAKES THEM JUST SO FUCKING LONG! (okay... maybe that's more agitated than sad...)
5. What moment I wish had never happened: damn, it's been so long since I saw anything JAG... but I distintcly remember that I wished they hadn't tried to make Harm and Renee a couple.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Meg for Harm... and I knew I had one for Mac in my head but damn, I forgot his name :S
7. My happily ever after for them: Harm resigns his commission (because seriously, why does it always have to be the girl that gives up her commission?), goes into civilian aviation (a little air school, maybe) and Mac can go on being an awesome kick-ass Marine and lawyer... and maybe there will also be kids :D

Oh this... this... this is too good!

And since I'm totally predictable I'll take:
C) Sam/Cam (since you said you ship them *eherm* *g*)

Sorry? ;)
(Next time I'll come with something new. I promise! xD)

C) Sam/Cam (since you said you ship them *eherm* *g*)

1. When or if I started shipping them: when I read your wonderful "30 days of TV" entry on your ships and saw the two vids (I'm still so very much in love with "Every Other Time" :D)
2. What I think their challenge is: letting themselves get involved with someone again. They're both people with a past, and an often not very happy one at that and I think overcoming that and really committing to someone again can be hard.
3. What makes me happy about them: they're so... SQUEE! So cute together and they're kind of at... eye level. They're really equals and I love couples that are equals :)
4. What makes me sad about them: that it took so much time for them to find the right one.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: pooh... uh... not sure?
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Sam and Janet (or maybe Sam and John Sheppard? Nah... lots and lots of friendshippy waves but no real shnippy waves), Cam and Carolyn :D
7. My happily ever after for them: Sam finally lets go of Jack, Cam realizes that there's nothing wrong with giving in to that... tension and they manage to find an arrangement that won't get them in trouble with non-frat regulations :)

b) Lorne, please! Or Laura.

Date: 2011-01-14 12:58 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gelbes-gilatier.livejournal.com
Because I'm in the mood to do both:

Lorne:

#1 The most important thing about Lorne is: he may be short... but he can still kick your (and everyone else's) ass if he has to. However, he also prefers not to (physically) kick anyone's ass if he doesn't have to.

#2 Sheppard would be dead without him. Or at least buried under tons of paper work (it's astonishing how much paper work a city like Atlantis can still produce...). But Sheppard (and for that matter everyone else) knows better than to call him "file rat". Well, to his face, anyway.

#3 He'd like to have his own command one day but right now he's comfortable with being Sheppard's file rat XO. It could change the next time Sheppard makes him clean up another Marine mess, though.

#4 Family is very important to him and so is privacy. That's why Teyla (and well, in the Protect and Survive 'verse also Laura) is the only canon character who knows that he actually has family.

#5 He's a closet speed freak. No, seriously. I think he was trained on fighters and he loved it. He regrets not being able to fly fast planes on a regular basis anymore so every time he gets an opportunity to get into one of the F-302s, he takes it... and takes great care to make it look like a mandatory training exercise.

Laura:

#1 She tries to cut Rodney some slack, she really does... but you're right, she'll never forgive him for seriously suspecting that she was the one to plant the bomb. And what's probably even worse is that he can't keep from doubting her scientific abilities.

#2 She's a scientist, even though people usually only see the soldier in her. She loves being a soldier but being a scientist is also a part of her and she wishes it would be appreciated more.

#3 She never actually plans for her temper to show but she gave up trying to be something she is not (namely, docile and demure). Not agitating a superior and behaving within the limits of the UCMJ is one thing but taking shit from anyone quite another. And Laura does not take shit from anyone.

#4 She really tried to make this thing with Carson work. It was great at the beginning but he was just so nice and it made her take jabs at him and provoke him in an ever increasing frequence, just to make him be not nice and have him make a stand against her but it just never worked.

#5 Being a Marine is an inherent part of her personality and she can't not be a Marine. However, she doesn't like being reduced to just that part of her personality... and she's glad that she found quite a lot of female friends on Atlantis who aren't Marines because there's something relaxing and refreshing about all-female company that you need very much when your entire day is spent with male soldiers.

I really like your thoughts for Laura especially, and that she has her group of female friends who are important to her.

Thank you!

You're welcome :) (and with the all-female company... I'm totally speaking from experience *coughs)

Just found this, while I was looking for something else... err, I know I'm late and all that, and nobody besides myself is interested in this, but...

c) Lavinia/Orion :D ?

Date: 2011-03-16 10:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gelbes-gilatier.livejournal.com
1. When or if I started shipping them: quite frankly, the first time I read a scene between them. I don't know exactly what it was but I remember I immediately saw the sparks and I went "Oh... they're not destined for each other in this RPG? :("
2. What I think their challenge is: with all great couples (;))... themselves. Orion's deep-seated upper class prejudice, Lavinia's deep-seated liberal prejudice, their thickheadedness and their stubborness. But then again, that last bit is also what keeps them together, I think ;)
3. What makes me happy about them: they can be so adorable (and also pretty fucked up, but that's kind of what also makes me happy about them). Also, they're both characters with a past. They still are married/about to get divorced and widowed, respectively and they're not what [livejournal.com profile] artaxastra called "40-year-old virgins" (in their case, 25-year-old virgins ;)). I think that's why I still love them.
4. What makes me sad about them: That it'll probably take us another couple of years to finish Haven't Thought of You Lately because I just can't seem to get my damn ass up. Please remind me to post all the betaed chapters ASAP.
5. What moment I wish had never happened: Boreas (in RPG canon, I mean... for HTOYL canon he was perfect ;)).
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Orion/Linda or maybe Zoe... but Lavinia? Not sure, actually. Any ideas?
7. My happily ever after for them: Orion realizes working yourself to death isn't exactly the best coping strategy and take it a bit slower at work and most of all gets it into this head how that thing called love works ;) Lavinia realizes that there really is Life After Tony and that there's more to that weird thing she has going in with Orion. And they have those three kids we were talking about... remember them? :D

Thank you! :D

@ 1: I think I know which scene you mean. The one where he tells her that she should stop seeing Tony because it would put him (and her) in danger if they did.
@ 4: Post them! At least one has been ready for quite some time. I think it's not too realistic that we'll continue before I get home (or maybe when I'll see you in July), but I can still re-read some chapers while I'm here.
@ 6: Lavinia... Tony? If we had kept him alive? I still think that Orion/Linda wouldn't have worked on the long run. ;)
