I can feel it in my bones. I mean... look at it:

• first the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile
• then The Volcano No One Can Pronounce (you know, the one that grounded practically all of Europe for at least four days and had people do such strange things as taking a cab from Oslo to Brussels for 3500€ (I ain't joking... that's what John Cleese did) or from Riga to Warsaw for 500€ (the boyfriend of one of my sister's co-workers did that) or journey through half of Europe in a rental car so you can get to Chile (36 hours nonstop from Basel to Madrid, one of my sister's co-workers did that)
• also the Caribbean will probably be polluted for... oh... the next 1000 years (and my sincerest and deepest condolences and greatest hopes for all those on my flist that are direct or indirect victims of that)
• Israel totally went off the rocker (seriously, just a few decades ago those actions would have provoked declarations of war from at least three countries... and supposing the whole thing did indeed happen in international waters, Israel committed an act of piracy... the same thing the US Navy and EUNAVFOR are fighting off the Somalian coast... also: Where are the German MPs, dear Israeli government?)
• and, last but not least, as of today, Germany is without a head of state - that is to say: President Horst Köhler decided he felt offended by the criticism to his latest none-too-clever demands to use the Bundeswehr for unlawful actions (i.e. "protecting Germany's trading routes") and resigned from his office (like, you know, "OMG, someone criticised what I said! Did I miss something? Are we living in a democracy all of a sudden?")

So... see what I mean?

Today, four German soldiers were killed near Baghlan in Afghanistan and the media released the news a few hours ago. While I was checking Twitter for more info on it, I came across a tweet from my former local party organisation's press representative, stating that tomorrow there would be protests during a welcome home muster for soldiers returning from their deployment to Afghanistan. It's going to be the same unit that lost soldiers last year in September (remember, losing soldiers in Afghanistan is still a major event, and we're only now starting to realize what it means to be at war - the country is still reeling from the shock of what happened on Good Friday).

( Hate the war, love the soldier... or at least don't HATE them as well. )

On a wholly unrelated note: OMG LEVERAGE SQUEE! All of you were right! Leverage is like... really, really cool. I'm currently watching S01E02 and I'm already in love with the high tech toys and Eliot and Parker (and kinda Eliot/Parker... what? I'm really fast with shipping...) and Hardison and Sophie and Nate (and a little bit Sophie/Nate... I'm not quite sold on it yet). Oh, and explosions! That's really all I need. Yay Leverage!

Also... finished watching EUReKA's Season 3 and... I DON'T WANT TESS TO GO! Tess can't go and let us all plunge back into Jack/Allison darkness! Jack/Allison doesn't make any sense at all. They don't fit and they don't even have real chemistry (they do work fine as friends but every time the writers try to steer them in a romantic direction it all goes poof)... it just doesn't work. Jack and Tess... clicked. Their sense of humor is compatible, the look cute together, when they fight the sparks fly... Also, Tess is awesome and would so deserve to be made a regular... don't take that away, please. Make it work, writers. PLEASE! (also, could someone please free me from that bothersome EUReKA/SGA crossover bunny involving both Tess and Cadman that keeps on bugging me? Seriously, if I ever start writing it you all should DUCK AND RUN!)

Oh, also... managed to kill my laptop's keyboard. Thank God for external keyboards and sisters' boyfriends' who happen to be IT geniuses (both hard- and software). 'Nuff said.

Okay... where are we here? Resignation Land? I just read an e-mail from our current campaign leader ranting about some thing or other and threatening to resign. That would be the third campaign leader we'd lose (the first resigned because of work issues, the second was made to resign because of political issues and the third now obviously feels hurt in his vanity or whatever) this year and it's starting to get ridiculous. I really wonder if this resignation business is a male pecularity or if it only seems like it because all our campaign leaders up to now were male.
